Visiting Fujairah Museum – A complete guide

Located in Fujairah City, Fujairah Museum is the center of local archeology and history and is one of the top tourist attractions in the city.

The foundation of the Fujairah Museum traces back to 1969 when it was just a single-room museum that showcased artifacts including coins, farming tools, pottery, and weapons.

Later, on 27 May 1991, the ruler of Fujairah, Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi ordered the establishment of the Department of Antiquities and Heritage for the Emirate of Fujairah. The Fujairah Museum was amongst the heritage centers whose maintenance and upkeep fell under that department.

On 30 November 1991, Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi officially opened the museum for the visitors. However, the museum expansion plans of two large halls covering antiquities and three halls for heritage reached completion in 1998.
