By sitting majestically along the Al-Majarrah Waterfront in the Heart of Sharjah it has become a prominent cultural and touristic landmark. The museum is divided into seven different galleries, some of them specifically displaying the arts and crafts of different eras while others showcase science and technology, Islamic faith, an outstanding collection of Islamic coins and a gallery hosting world-class exhibitions twice a year.

Sharjah has a deep rooted and rich culture and history. This museum explores it through artifacts found in excavations and explorations and shows the settlement of humans in Sharjah for more than 125.000 years, from the stone age all the way to the rise of Islam. The excavations had started in 1973 and the objects found vary from artifacts, coins, jewelry, pottery and ancient weapons which teach us of the civilizations that developed along the way. They show relationships formed between neighbouring countries as well as explore models of tombs, cemeteries, and houses of the time.
